The Newsweek rankings of the nation’s top public schools, published in its May 28 issue, did not include either WW-P high school. Last year, North was ranked 479th, and South 360th.##M:[more]##
Other area schools were included on the list of the top 1,”257 schools. Princeton was ranked 208, or 7th in the state, Montgomery was ranked 656 overall, or 13 in the state, and Hopewell Valley was ranked 1,”239, or 42 out of 43 New Jersey schools to make the list.
The rankings are based on a ratio calculated by taking the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or Cambridge tests given at a school in May, and divided by the number of seniors graduating. Every school that had a ratio above 1.0 was included on the list. Last year, South’s ratio was 2.006. North’s was 1.779.
According to Newsweek, some schools may not have been included due to a failure to report its results. According to district information officer Gerri Hutner, WW-P did submit its results for consideration.
The district has not yet made further comment on its absence from the rankings.
