North’s boys track team captured the Mercer County Championship on February 1 behind a stellar performance from Sean Reed, who set a new school record in the 400 meters, with a time of 51.28, to take first in the event. Reed also anchored the winning 4×400 relay, and finished second in the 200.
Jim Rosa also had a great day, winning the 800, 1,”600, 3,”200, and being part of the 4×400. He broke the school record in all four events. Corey Abernathy won the shot put for the Knights.
The South boys, who won the tri-meet against North the week before, finished with 25 points for a fourth place finish, with the help of Sam Macaluso and Kevin Foy, who were third and fourth in the 1,”600. The South girls placed second, and the North girls placed fourth at the championship.
For South’s girls, Ashleigh Delemos won the 55 meters and finished third in the 200 and 55 hurdles. Caroline Kellner placed second in the 3,”200.
For North’s girls, Trish Reilly finished second in the 1,”600, and Emily Scott finished fifth in the 3,”200.
