When Josh and Ethan Levy of Plainsboro asked their dad, Kurt, to drive them to an audition at Kelsey Theater, he didn’t realize what a tangled web he would enter with them. All three of them landed roles in the upcoming production of “Charlotte’s Web” with performances on Friday to Sunday, March 10 to and 12.##M:[more]##While waiting outside for them, he was asked if he would like to audition. “If you’re looking for adults, I’m up for it,” he told the stage manager. His last acting roles were in summer camp when he played the Tinman in “The Wizard of Oz” and Will Parker in “Oklahoma!” “I always had it in me but I never followed up on it,” he says. Levy was cast as Mr. Arable, the owner of the farm.A New York City native, Levy was born in Brooklyn and grew up in “Seinfeld Country” (Queens). He and his wife, Mona, moved to Brooklyn where their three children were born. The family moved to Plainsboro 10 years ago to get out of New York City.Kurt Levy, a graduate of Cornell University, received his graduate degree from New York University business school and is a systems consultant with Keane. Mona teaches special education in Hamilton elementary schools.Ethan, 15, is a freshman at High School South. In “Charlotte’s Web” he plays the part of Uncle, the prize winning pig. At South he is in the ensemble in “Grease” (opening Friday, March 3) and had a lead in “Fools” in the fall. Past roles include the Wizard in “Wizard of Oz” and Colonel Snipes in “Curse of the Werewolf” at Grover Middle School. He is a member of Pirate Players and is active in “Cucumber Phil,” directed by his sister, Sara, 16, a junior at South.Josh, who will be 11 in April, is a fifth grade student at Millstone River School. He plays a farm boy in “Charlotte’s Web.”Another Plainsboro resident is making her drama debut as the baby spider, Aranea. Stefanie Infante, 9, a fourth grade student at Millstone River, studies drama with Drama Kids International in Plainsboro. “Her experience with them helped her to get the part,” says her mother, Sandy. “It gave her the confidence to audition in front of the director and stage manager. She is so excited that her grandparents are coming up from Texas to see her first show.”Amy Slothower, 11, of Plainsboro plays the part of Gander, the one who says everything three times. A sixth grader at Grover Middle School, she began attending drama camp in Minnesota when she was four. Her current activities include McCarter Theater programs and New Jersey Repertory Theater. The former Junior Town Crier in Plainsboro last year, her first Kelsey performance was in “Twas the Night Before Christmas” last fall. “She loves performing and anything on stage,” says her mother, Kathy Slothower.“People should consider being in plays as a family,” says Kurt Levy. “It has brought us together for three nights a week for a couple of months.”Charlotte’s Web, Kelsey Theater, Old Trenton Road, 609-584-9444, www.kelseytheatre.net.
