Dear West Windsor Township Resident:
As Hurricane Sandy approaches, I would like to urge all of you to monitor our Social Media Sites and Sign Up for Nixle Alerts. Our Facebook, Twitter and Nixle Alert Systems will be monitored and updated round the clock. You can go to our website www.westwindsorpolice.com to sign up for all these services or:
On Facebook – www.facebook.com/WWPolice

These social media sites are part of West Windsor Police Department’s Operation Lighthouse Initiative and will provide real-time information in reference to road closings, flooding issues, power outages, and shelter locations. It will also give residents the ability to communicate with the police department even when they have no power by using their cell phone.
Please keep in mind for the safety of you and your family members that:
Our website and social networking pages have additional links to emergency preparedness guidelines, weather sites and storm tracking websites.
If you have an emergency fire, first aid or police issue, call 9-1-1 immediately.
All non-emergency calls should be directed to the police department main number 609-799-1222. We will have additional telecommunication officers on duty during the storm for your assistance.
For your safety, if you see barricades across a roadway, do not cross them. They are there to indicate electrical wires down, a flooding conditions or some other type hazard. Find an alternate route.
If emergency shelter locations are needed, or if transportation issues arise, information will be made available through the use of the Reverse 9-1-1 notification system, or through our web and social networking systems.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience during the next few days.
Joseph M. Pica Jr.
