The West Windsor Arts Council has announced the winners for their Woo-Ri Mart Food Art Competition for Children.

Children from Edison, Pennington, Plainsboro, Princeton, Monroe Township, West Windsor and other communities spent their summer submitting artwork for the Woo-Ri Mart Art Competition. In total, 179 children, ranging in age from 4 to 18, submitted their creations.

The competition stemmed from a conversation between Young S Chang, co-owner of Woo-Ri Mart and Jaime An-Wong, volunteer at West Windsor Arts Center. The idea was to bring art into the Woo-Ri Mart, showcasing the food children like to eat and draw.

Children submitted their originals creations, working in various media and exhibiting a wide range of artistic skills. Volunteers from the West Windsor Arts Council worked to jury the submissions.

“We were blown away by the high level of skill and creativity of the children,” Aylin Green, executive director of the West Windsor Arts Council, said. “The creative spirit is alive and well in our youth.”

Starting Sept. 26, Woo-Ri Mart — located at 64 Princeton-Hightstown Road, West Windsor — will display 35 new pieces of artwork until each of the 179 works of art have been displayed.
