The Waldorf School of Princeton won the Bronze Award with National Wildlife Federation’s Eco-Schools program for its on-site composting program.
The Waldorf School joined Eco-Schools USA, an international program that recognizes and provides free resources to schools integrating sustainability into the curriculum, in 2012. Overall, there are 13 Eco-Schools in Mercer County.
To win the Bronze Award, schools must establish an Eco-Team, conduct an environmental audit, develop an Eco-Action plan, evaluate and monitor the plan and include the community.
The school was also recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat with National Wildlife Federation for its work in maintaining school grounds that attract wildlife and help restore habitat.
