Michael J. Arons of Plainsboro was awarded the Mercer County Alliance Volunteer of the Year by the NJ Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. He was unanimously nominated for this award by members of the West Windsor-Plainsboro Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
Arons lives in the Windrows, an adult community, with his wife, Norma. As a retired social worker from the NJ Department of Human Services for 30 years, he brings with him the skills and compassion that he has for other people. Most importantly, he has made it possible for the WW-P Municipal Alliance to bring current and caring information to people of all ages as he volunteers at nearly all its community education programs, said Marcia Fleres, coordinator of the WW-P Municipal Alliance.
A member of the Elks, Arons serves as the inner guard and trustee. As an alliance volunteer, he volunteers at nearly every community event in which the alliance has participated including Plainsboro Founders Day, Plainsboro Business Partnership’s Showcase, and National Take Back Prescription Drug Day.
The WW-P Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse is funded by the NJ Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (GCADA) with local funds from Plainsboro Township and West Windsor Township. The alliance is a volunteer organization made up of parents, police, school personnel, local organizations, and volunteers. Visit www.wwpalliance.org or E-mail info@wwpAlliance.org for information.
