Less than a year after the grand opening of the new University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, the hospital has added a state-of-the art fitness and wellness center to its campus.
Princeton Fitness & Wellness at Plainsboro officially opened on Friday, March 22, at 7 Plainsboro Road, Plainsboro. The center is now open seven days a week, from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
The 50,000-square-foot facility features cardiovascular and strength equipment, three pools, group fitness and pilates studios, a childcare center, and a steam room, sauna, and day spa. The gym’s general manager, Robert Murphy, is a former Division I hockey player at American International College who brings four years of general management experience to the new center.
Princeton HealthCare System CEO Barry Rabner said in a statement that the fitness center fits into the hospital’s mission. “When we were planning the hospital and the larger campus, our goal was to transform the way illness is prevented, health is maintained, care is delivered, and families are supported,” he said.
To that end, the center employs both nurses and personal trainers and includes regular health risk assessments with all memberships. In addition to fitness classes, programs on CPR, safety, nutrition, and stress management are also available.
Also housed within the center is Krogh Outpatient Rehabilitation, which offers physical therapy as part of UMCPP’s outpatient rehabilitation network.
A representative of the center declined to give pricing information, but noted that month-to-month memberships are available. Anyone interested in joining is asked to call the gym at 609-799-7777 or vist www.princetonfitnessplainsboro.com.
