Cranbury Road will be closed this Saturday, June 30, weather permitting, for construction work. A developer on Cranbury Road will be instituting the road closure in order to install a new sewer service lateral.
Due to the location of the work, the width of the road and the limited sight distance in the area of the work, traffic cannot be safely routed through the work site. Work will be permitted from the hours of 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The roadway is expected to be reopened to traffic upon completion of the work. Local traffic on either side of the construction site will function as normal.
The approved detour route utilizes Princeton-Hightstown Road (CR 571) and Clarksville Road (CR 638) as shown on the street map.
Starting the week of Monday, July 2, repaving of Wallace Road is slated to begin. Planned improvements include a concrete curb, sidewalk, handicap ramps, casting replacements, milling and resurfacing of the bituminous pavement, improved striping and installation of pavement reflectors.
Arawak Paving Company of Hammonton will be in charge of the project, which is expected to be completed within 30 days, weather permitting. Tack oil will be sprayed on the roadway surface prior to final paving operations. The public is advised not to ride through the tack oil, as it may get onto your vehicle and may be difficult to remove.
The township’s engineering department notes that the road should remain open to traffic at all times but have alternate traffic during non-peak hours. The township asks motorists to be aware that minor traffic delays may occur when attempting to pass through areas when heavy equipment is active. Also, during placement of the new pavement surface, road and driveway access along Wallace Road may be temporarily impacted.
Parking for the Princeton Junction Train Station at West Windsor will remain open at all times, although access may be limited for a short duration during final paving operations in late July.
