Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey presents two concerts on Sunday, January 27, at Community Middle School, in Plainsboro. The String Preparatory Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra, and Wind Symphony perform at 3 p.m. featuring music of Respighi and Tchaikovsky. The Symphonic Orchestra, Woodwind Choir, Brass Ensemble, Saxophone Choir, and Percussion Ensemble present works of Wagner and Dvorak at 7 p.m. The program runs under the guidance of John Enz, artistic director; and conductors Phillip Pugh and Brian Woodward.##M:[more]##
Enz, the orchestra director at High School North and the facilitator for the WW-P music department, is a graduate of Goshen College and received his master’s degree in cello performance and music education from Temple University. This is his 21st year as artistic director of YOCJ and conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra.
Pugh, a teacher at Millstone River School, has a master’s degree in music theory from Temple University. Assistant director of the program and conductor of the Pro Arte and String Preparatory Orchestras, Pugh has been with the orchestra for 19 years.
Woodward, a teacher at Community Middle School, is a graduate of the College of New Jersey with degrees in trumpet performance and music education. The conductor of the Wind Symphony and the Brass Choir, he has been with the orchestra since 1999.
