The Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie Mansion in Cadwalader Park marks its 40th anniversary with the exhibition “Airing Out the Attic.”
Opening on Wednesday, July 11, and continuing through September 9, the exhibition features more than 80 works of art representing a collection that includes approximately 6,000 objects of historic and cultural relevance.
The museum’s collection includes works by artists important to Trenton’s cultural life: Well known artists and Trenton School of Industrial Arts instructors Frank Applegate, George Bradshaw, and Henry MacGinnis; noted Trenton watercolorists Tom Malloy, Marge Chavooshian, and Robert Sakson; and nationally known Trenton artist Mel Leipzig.
The collection was developed by the Trenton Museum Society through donations and acquisitions of works featured in the annual juried Ellarslie Open exhibition.
The exhibition was curated by Trenton Museum Society board member Carolyn Stetson with assistance from photographer and former Hopewell gallery owner and Trenton Museum Society member Jack Koeppel.
A free public opening reception is set for Saturday, July 14, from 7 to 9 p.m.
