It is time to discontinue the divisive criticisms of local municipal officials in West Windsor and instead focus on opportunities to improve our community.##M:[more]## Specifically, Messrs. Morgan, Delman and Siegal need to stop their personal attacks and avoid publicizing their vendettas against Mayor Hsueh and the Redevelopment process. Critical analysis and questioning of the elements in this complex process should be encouraged. However, the negative approach as demonstrated by these individuals is unnecessary as well as unproductive. For example, the very recent articles containing quotes from Mr. Morgan, as well as Mr. Delman’s and Mr. Siegal’s recent letters to the editor to this paper and others illustrate those personal agendas, not the goal of a better community.
Transportation and circulation in particular are important areas of focus for our community. For instance, the redevelopment process has as its key ingredient the Vaughn Drive Connector. Go to the Penns Neck EIS website from several years ago for review. (Click Here.) This connector will serve to improve the traffic pattern in and around the PJ train Station. It was virtually the only thing that all sides in that process could agree on!
Secondly, stop bringing up the issue of a referendum. It is not within the statutory framework of the Redevelopment Act. Don’t complain that what is needed is a simplified township-wide referendum question to determine what is in the Township’s best interests. The level of complexity of this issue belies the simplistic approach that a referendum seeks. The issues are complex. This train station already serves the region, not just the Township. Yes, priority should be given to Township residents parking at the train station, both in terms of availability of spaces, number of spaces and access to drop off areas. If you don’t like the way the current redevelopment law is laid out, speak to State legislators, such as Mr. Baroni, Ms. Greenstein, Mr. Inverso, Mr. Corzine, et als. Don’t take your frustrations out on the municipal officials that have to apply the laws, as currently enacted.
Stop the attacks, and work to achieve the greater good for the overall community. We have an opportunity to create, design, plan and control the growth in a district within the municipality for the next 10-30 years. The last time that this was done in this town and implemented on this scale was the adoption of Carnegie Center in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. There are lots within that district that are still coming on line 25 years later.
We have an opportunity here to do something good, dare I say, grand, for our community, our region, our county and our State. Don’t blow this opportunity by embarrassing our community.
