The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch is set to sponsor a light rail tour of the canal between Bordentown and Trenton.
The trip, designed to take riders back to the 19th century, is on NJ Transit’s River Line. The line follows the path of the canal from Crosswicks Creek to Trenton.
There will be a brief introductory talk before boarding the train to Trenton. Riders will see the abandoned canal, Watson’s Creek and the Abbott Marshlands.
After arriving in Trenton there will be an opportunity for a short walk to the State Street bridge over the former canal, now the Trenton Freeway.
The tour is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Feb. 22 at the River Line Bordentown station, 100 West Park St., Bordentown.
Two-hour tickets are $1.50 for general public and 70 cents for seniors.
