‘Andy has been playing football with this group of men for more than five years, although the game is celebrating its 25th year in West Windsor. This year he is donating $50 for every touchdown he throws,” says Andy Judson’s wife, Ellen.
Judson, a West Windsor resident, will celebrate his 50th birthday with a benefit for Special Olympics New Jersey. “As I headed towards my 50th birthday, I wanted to do something special while doing something I love,” says Hudson. “For the past several years, I watched my children give their time volunteering at our local chapter of the Special Olympics and I knew that I wanted to help too. So I combined my passion for playing football with raising money for this worthy organization.”
“He has always loved playing football and he quarterbacks in a league every Sunday with a bunch of older guys,” says Ellen.
Both Ellen and Andy were born in New York and raised in Scarsdale. Andy graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in business. The couple moved to Berkeley Heights in 1993 for work and then moved to West Windsor 11 years ago when Andy founded Topspin, an independent marketing communications agency based in Princeton. Ellen is a marketing consultant at Covance in Carnegie Center.
Their three children are Michael, 19, a freshman at Muhlenberg College; Eric, 16, a junior at High School South; and Rachel, 14, an eighth grade student at Grover Middle School.
“Both our boys have volunteered with the Special Olympics at their summer camp, Camp Shriver, for the past several years and have loved it,” says Ellen. “Andy felt it was a wonderful organization and saw the joy our boys brought to the children there. And as a parent, he feels the organization does so much for children who can’t always help themselves.”
Andy is donating $50 for each touchdown he throws through Saturday, November 16. His website, www.gofundme.com/touchdowns will be open through the end of November. “Although he has already met his goal of $2,500 he is happy to contribute more to the Special Olympics,” says his wife.
