Plan B, “The Squares” includes building office and apartment buildings as high as 7 stories on the west side of the tracks. ##M:[more]##Two parking structures are shown on the east side of the tracks, and both would be built in space currently used for surface parking between Wallace Road and the train tracks. This plan includes apartment housing only in the transit village, and 200,”000 square feet of retail, along with 800,”000 square feet of office space. It would leave the Sarnoff woods untouched. It provides for up to 6,”300 parking spaces.
The transit village would take up less acreage than in the other plans, and the village center would surround green space bordered by retail on two sides, and by an office building on the south. This plan also includes a piazza, that would be surrounded by retail and restaurants, but also by some green space. This plan shows Sherbrooke Road being connected with Alexander road on the site currently occupied by the Acme shopping center. It envisions that area becoming a “main street” with mixed use buildings on either side. The Acme would be relocated to the north of its lot, and parking would be reconfigured to be hidden behind the street-side buildings.
