On the heels of its decision to move municipal elections from May to the same day as the November general elections, the Township Council has also introduced an ordinance establishing the terms of the appointed members of boards and committees to bring them into line with the council members’ terms.
The ordinance, introduced on May 17, sets the terms of all members and advisors of and liaisons to the Agricultural Advisory Committee; Cable Television Advisory Board; Shade Tree Commission; Planning Board; Site Plan Review Advisory Board; and Zoning Board of Adjustment.
A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 1. Under the ordinance, the new terms will begin on January 1 and expire on December 31 of each year. Previously, the terms began on July 1 of each year and expired June 30. As a result of the changes, the terms of the current members will be extended by six months.
