West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District announced the 2006-2007 Governor’s Teacher/Educational Professionals Recognition Award Honorees. The program was developed to acknowledge teachers and educational professionals who exhibit outstanding performance.
This year’s teachers include Rick Ellis, Dutch Neck School; Lisa Rizziello, Maurice Hawk School; Jean Burdick, Town Center School; Ellen Incollingo, Wicoff School; Irene Hachat, Millstone River School; Kristi Baur, Village School; Mary Doyle, Community Middle School; Ann Mika, Thomas R. Grover Middle School; Jane Fasanella, High School North; and Mary Elizabeth Gray, High School South.##M:[more]##
Ellis, who has been at Dutch Neck for close to 20 years; has worked as a kindergarten teacher, computer teacher, and grade-level leader. He brought Responsive Classroom ideas to Dutch Neck as well as many other pedagogical and technological concepts to the district’s attention.
Rizziello, a first grade teacher, also has close to 20 years of experience. She has worked for the past 11 years as a co-chair of the Literacy Festival, which showcases the talents of Hawk students.
Burdick’s teaching strategies include visual, auditory, and multi-media methods to address a variety of learning styles. In addition to her master’s degree in art education, she recently received a master’s in painting at the University of the Arts.
Incollingo, who has served the district as an elementary school teacher, has been a guidance counselor for the past nine years.
Hachat, who teaches basic skills and ESL students, presents multi-sensory opportunities to increase reading comprehension and vocabulary development.
Baur, a special education teacher, continues her professional development each year and has led share sessions on autism, inclusion, and children’s literature.
Mika, nationally recognized as a master teacher, developed integrated lessons connecting reading across the curriculum.
