Sustainable Princeton’s EnergySmart Homes Campaign has surpassed its goal of providing 100 home energy assessments in its first year. Homeowners who completed the suggested retrofits collectively received more than $80,000 in cash-back rebates and incentives that, on average, will reduce their annual energy consumption by more than 25 percent.
Sustainable Princeton launched its EnergySmart Homes campaign in October 2013 in an effort to help locals implement energy efficiency retrofits in their homes. Sustainable Princeton contracted with Ciel Power, LLC, a New Jersey-based accredited provider of home energy assessments and efficiency retrofits to execute the campaign. Since then, 139 homeowners have participated by scheduling a home energy audit and more than 20 of these homes have implemented the improvements recommended in the report that followed.
Assessments will be available at a discounted rate of $49 for Princeton residents through Ciel Power until Dec. 31, 2014. Homeowners can qualify for up to $5,000 in cash rebates and up to $10,000 in zero-interest financing for home energy improvements.
