Preservation New Jersey will sponsor the 2026 Student Poster Session at this year’s New Jersey History & Historic Preservation Conference.
The conference will be held June 17–18 at Saint Elizabeth University, with student posters presented June 18.
The Poster Session invites undergraduate and graduate students, as well as emerging professionals who have graduated within the past two years, to present project-based work in historic preservation, history, archaeology, architecture, planning, museum studies and public history.
The session emphasizes creative and visual storytelling, encouraging research where material culture, the built environment and visual evidence play a central role.
“As an organization committed to preservation education, PNJ recognizes the value of creating opportunities that foster professional development, critical thinking, and public engagement,” organizers said.
Presenting at the Poster Session allows students and early-career professionals to gain conference experience, explore career pathways, network with peers and mentors, and contribute to conversations shaping the future of preservation.
Preservation New Jersey will award monetary prizes to the top three posters: $750 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.
Organizers said the awards are intended to recognize outstanding scholarship and creativity while encouraging continued involvement in preservation work.
Proposals must be submitted through the conference website by March 6, 2026.
Selected presenters will receive complimentary admission to the June 18 conference sessions. Attendance at the full two-day conference is optional and requires separate registration.
The New Jersey History & Historic Preservation Conference brings together preservation professionals, historians, students and advocates for educational sessions, workshops and networking opportunities focused on cultural resource management and heritage preservation across the state.
