Ammu Mandalap advanced in the NJSIAA singles tournament at Mercer County Park on October 9 by defeating Maggie Kurtz, of Burlington City, 6-0, 6-0, in the first round and then defeating Satreethai Sasinin, of New Brunswick, 6-0, 6-3, in the second round. She fell on October 10 in the subsequent round to Gina Li, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

Sports Briefs
The Central Jersey Hawks U13 girls AAU basketball team will be holding tryouts on Saturday, October 23, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean Township Municipal Gym, 1100 West Park Avenue in Ocean. Tryouts are open to 8th graders and 7th graders who were born in 1997. There is no fee to tryout, but all candidates should pre-register by E-mailing davedefillippo@aol.com. If selected, the cost per player is approximately $225.
West Windsor resident Yan Zhang was the second overall female finisher, with a time of 21:29.90, at the Carnegie Center 5k Run on September 25. Plainsboro resident Jessica Gedulidig was the third female finisher.
High School South graduate Katie Kellner was the top finisher for the Cornell University women’s cross country team at the Colgate Invitational. She placed seventh overall in the race with a time of 21:55.
West Windsor resident Caitlin Heim has started as goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team at Washington University at St. Louis. She made seven saves in her first two games playing.
Matt Davidson finished in a tie for fifth place, with a 68-69-67-69—273, in the WNB Gold Classic in Texas last month. He won $19,162, bringing his total prize money to $97,834 in 11 tournaments this season.
High School North graduate Anthony Lee was the 8th overall finisher and seventh runner, with a time of 27:46.8, for the Middlebury College men’s cross country team in the Vermont state championship meet.
Plainsboro resident and team co-captain Ted Snieckus helped pull the Mercer Junior Rowing Club into first place in the varsity eight in the men’s high school race on October 9 at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The team’s winning time for the 2.5 mile head race was 13:52:65.
North graduate Megan Pisani scord the game-winnng goal for the Rider field hockey team during the team’s win over Fairfield, 2-0.
WW-P graduate Graham Alig finished 13th at the Steamtown Marathon with a time of 2:44.33 and was the top male finisher in the 35-39 age group.
South graduate Ryan Lupo was named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week for rushing for 167 yards and two touchdowns in Williams College’s win over Bowdoin.
