Boys Spring Field Hockey. USA Field Hockey has identified central New Jersey as part of its national boys’ development initiative and is worked with the United States Field Hockey Association and the USA Men’s national field hockey team coach, Nick Conway, in forming a league for boys between 12 and 18 years old.

Practices will be held in the Princeton area on Sundays starting in late March and through the end of May. The team will be led by Cris Maloney, a former national-level men’s team player who, before moving to central New Jersey, twice coached teams of boys to national championships in United States Olympic Committee events.

An important goal for Maloney will be to form a travel team made up of the area’s best 16 players. The travel team will play against three teams forming in Pennsylvania. Boys from the travel team will also be able to try out for the East Coast team which will compete in the Men’s Junior National Championships.
