Though the Pirates made a run at a second-half comeback, a goal by Josh Schupak put the Knights ahead for good in their 3-2 win on October 12. North took a 2-0 lead into halftime behind goals from Vincenzo Pugliese and Schupak, but South added two of its own in the second half courtesy of Anthony Amore and Matt Stein. Luke Balestrieri had six saves for South, and Oliver Sapon made five for North.

North (2-4). A 44-8 win over Hightstown on October 9. John Owens scored five touchdowns for the Knights, and C.J. Markisz scored on an 81-yard run. Quaterback Malik Thompson completed 6 of 10 passes for 80 yards and three touchdowns.
A 41-0 loss to Notre Dame on October 16. Malik Thompson completed 13 of 23 passes for 106 yards. C.J. Markisz led the Knights in rushing with 43 yards.
The Knights face Hamilton West at home on Friday, October 23, and play at Ewing on Friday, October 30.
South (0-5). A 40-7 loss to Hamilton West on October 9. Zyion Cooper scored on a 54-yard run, and Lucas Cuitino made the extra point.
South, already winless on the season, was at a further disadvantage as 17 of its players, including its starting quarterback, were suspended by the school prior to the game. Athletic director Jean Marie Seal told the Times of Trenton that several students, including football players, elected to stay home from school on game day due to speculation about a threat to the high school, despite reassurance from administrators and police that the school was safe.
District policy prohibits players from participating in games or practices unless they attended at least a half day of school.
“They’re not in trouble,” Seal told the Times. “There’s just a simple consequence that when you’re not in school that you don’t play or practice.”
A 35-6 loss to Ewing on October 16. Scott Cochrane recorded South’s only points on a one-yard run in the second quarter.
South next faces Princeton at home on Friday, October 23, followed by an away game at Northern Burlington on Friday, October 30.
