Diving
North (0-2) A loss to South and North Brunswick, with a score of 9, at a tri-meet on December 9. For the girls, Christina LiPuma posted a 149.1 for fourth place.
South (2-0) The boys and girls diving teams came out with a win, with 50 points, over North Brunswick and High School North at a tri-meet on December 9. For the boys, Michael Casarona scored a 157.05. For the girls, Alice Eltvedt scored a 157.2 for second place, while Erickson scored a 156.675.
Sports Briefs
West Windsor resident Emma Levy, a senior at the Lawrenceville School, has signed a letter of intent to play tennis at Tulane University. Levy is currently ranked number one in the United States Tennis Association’s Middle States section in both the 16-and under and 18-and under divisions. She is has been ranked as high as 17th nationally in the 16-and under division and is currently 48th nationally in the 18-and under. Levy has been undefeated at first singles for Lawrenceville.
High School South student Alina Weinstein, of Plainsboro, signed with the University of Illinois gymnastics team. According to the school’s website, she placed 11th in the all-around at the 2008 Level 10 Nationals and won back-to-back Level 10 Regional titles on bars in 2007 and 2008, as well as the all-around and floor titles in 2007. Weinstein also won the beam crown and placed third in the all-around at the 2007 Level 10 State Championships.
Jon Scheer, a High School South graduate and a sophomore midfielder on the men’s soccer team at the University of Delaware, scored two goals and had an assist this season. He started all 19 games.
Junichi Kusakawa, 23, of West Windsor, who has been a Special Olympics New Jersey athlete for nine years, will be headed to Idaho to compete in cross country skiing at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
