South (12-7-2): A loss to Montgomery, 2-0, on November 7 in the NJSIAA Group IV Central Tournament quarterfinals. South took 5 shots. Liz Huttner had 13 saves.

Boys Soccer

North (19-2): A loss to Moorestown, 2-1, in the NJSIAA Group III state semifinal on November 18. Goal: Mike Tartaro. Assist: Nowak. North took 6 shots. Dan Hayduchok had 8 saves.

A win against Wall, 2-1, for the NJSIAA Group III Central championship on November 14. Goals: Mohamed Conteh, Kody Sun. Assist: Nassir Silwany. North took 12 shots. Hayduchok had 3 saves.

A win against Princeton, 2-1, in overtime in the semifinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III Tournament. Goals: Tartaro, Stefan Bebenov. Assists: Mike Jacques, Scott Kelly. North took 8 shots. Hayduchok had 5 saves.

A win against Hamilton, 2-0, on November 6 in the NJSIAA Group III Central quarterfinal. Goals: Sun, Conteh. Hayduchok had 12 saves.

South (14-5-2): A loss to North Brunswick, 3-1, on November 6 in the second round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV tournament. Goal: Ryan McCabe. Sitek and Valero each had 5 saves.

Girls Cross Country

North: The team finished eigth, with a score of 233, in Group III at the NJSIAA Groups Meet run at Holmdel Park on November 16. Trish Reilly finished 11th, with a time of 19:43, and Emily Scot finished 24th, with a time of 20:39.

South: The team finished sixth, with a score of 161, at the NJSIAA Groups Meet run at Holmdel Park on November 16. Katie Kellner won the Group IV state title with a time of 18:18.3, her third title of the season, while her sister, Caroline Kellner, finished 10th with a time of 19:18. Ting Ting Zhou finished 44th,with a time of 20:50, and Shelby Miller finished 47th, with a time of 20:56.

Katie Kellner took the Group IV individual crown with a time of 18:15 on November 8 at Thompson Park during the state sectional championships. The team took third place overall, with 78 points.

Boys Cross Country

North: The team took the title in Group III at the NJSIAA Groups Meet run at Holmdel Park on November 16. Joe Rosa took third place in Group III, with a time of 15:50.20. Jime Rosa took ffth place with a time of 16:00. Tyler Corkedale took ninth place with a time of 16:32; Jon Squeri took 11th place with a time of 16:43, and Anthony Lee took 15th place with a time of 16:53.

The team won the sectional title at the NJSIAA Central Championships at Thompson Park on Nov. 8, with 18 points, compared to Holmdel’s 76. Joe Rosa took first place, with a time of 15:36. Jim ROsa finished in 15:53. North had six runners in the top 8 — Tyler Corkedale, Ryan Sleeper, Jon Squeri, and Anthony Lee.

South: The team finished fourth, with 177 points, at the NJSIAA Groups Meet run at Holmdel Park on November 16. Kevin Foy took fifth place in Group IV, with a time of 16:32, while Jeff McKee placed 45th, with a time of 17:20, and Max Margiotta placed 65th in 17:36.

The team took the sectional title for Group IV at the NJSIAA Central Championships at Thompson Park on November 8, with a score of 52-66 over Old Bridge. Sam Macaluso took third; Kevin Foy took fifth, and Brian Schoepfer took ninth.

Girls Volleyball

South (15-5): A loss to Paramus, 2-0, on November 7 in the 2nd round of the Group III tournament. Rachael Degnan: 1 dig, 1 kill; Andrea Echeverri: 8 digs; Michelle Emerman: 5 kills, 4 digs; Amy Greenberger: 13 assists, 2 kills. Hannah Jin: 5 digs. Misty Ozbek: 5 digs, 5 kills, 1 ace. Lea Williams: 3 digs, 2 kills, 1 block.

Sports Briefs

North graduate Marissa Kuzbyt, a freshman on the Methodist University women’s soccer team, scored her first collegiate goal in the team’s win over North Carolyn Wesleyan, 4-0, in a USA South Athletic Conference quarterfinal conference tournament match on November 4.

Plainsboro Wildcats Pop Warner Pee Wee team were runners up on November 2 in the Central Jersey confrerence championship played at Monroe. Raritan Bay defeated the Wildcats, 12-0. WW-P, at 9-2, advanced to the Pop Warner Garden State games.

The West Windsor-Plainsboro Dynamite under-9 girls defeated the Millburn Monarchs, 3-1, on November 2. Livi Kooker scored one goal, and Jillian Wachira scored two and had an assist. Midfielders Alanna McGill, Ava Grapski, and Rachel Spence, and goalkeeper Maryn Gochuico performed well. Grace Xiong, Elise Gardner, Rhea Banerjee, Anchi Xu, and Lizzie Demoine were on defense.

The West Windsor-Plainsboro Xtreme fell, 2-1, to the Monroe Lady Braves on November 1 after penalty kicks in the U-14 girls State Cup semifinal match. Brianne Jacques, Courtney Laermer, Ann Sarnak and Rebecca Xi kept pressure on the goal. Charlotte Prud’Homme scored just before the end of regulation. Goalkeeper Stefanie Wisotsky made several saves.

The West Windsor-Plainsboro Lightning under-10 girls soccer tied, 2-2, with the Aberdeen-Matawan Freedom on November 2. Morgan Newman and Catherine Carnevale scored goals, assisted by Clare Clancey. Emily Schmid, Clancey, Olivia Ling, Clancey, and Sarah Carulli also took shots on goal. Goalie Julia Koepp and Ling, Abby Cunningham, Catie Raeter, Mackenzie Kramer, and Caroline Cunningham were strong on defense.
