#b#WW-P Alumni Succeed on College Tracks#/b#

High School South alumni Eddison Gulama and Chris Banks are both standouts for the Saint Joseph’s University men’s track team. The squad raced on January 10 at the Penn State Relays, where Gulama’s distance medley relay team placed third out of 12 with a 10:11.02 time. Banks helped the 4x400m team to a third-place finish with a time of 3:18.54.

Banks and Gulama both ran in the 4x400m race at the Lehigh Angry Birds meet on January 17, where the team’s 3:16.27 time earned them first place.

High School North graduate and current Hamilton College student Joe Jensen qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in three events: the 60m dash, the 200m, and the 400m. He was also named the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Athlete of the Week in his first two weeks of competition this season.

#b#WW Gymnast Gazzillo Competes with Schafer#/b#

On January 11, the Schafer Gymnastics level 4 and level 5 boys’ teams traveled to Bridgeton to compete in their first meet of the season. The teams, including West Windsor resident Justin Gazzillo, participated in vault, rings, high bar, parallel bars, floor exercise and pommel horse. Each team member finished third or better in every event. Schafer Gymnastics is located in Lawrenceville.

#b#Boyle Is Academic All-Ivy Scholar#/b#

University of Pennsylvania sprint football player and 2013 High School South graduate Patrick Boyle was one of five Penn men’s student-athletes named Fall Academic All-Ivy scholars. Boyle, a defensive lineman, helped the Quakers to a 4-3 record with his 20 tackles. He is majoring in mechanical engineering and applied sciences.

The girls from High School South made their mark at the state and national level at the Group IV Relays on January 15, recording the fastest time in the country this year for the distance medley relay. The team of Deirdre Casey, who recorded a 3:40 1,200-meter leg, Katie Kullman (1:03.4 for 400 meters), Edlyn Gulama (2:14.1 for 800 meters), and Christina Rancan (5:07 for 1,600 meters), finished in 12:16.5. The previous fastest time had been 12:23.03, recorded by South runners Haley Rich, Kathryn Schoenauer, Casey, and Edwina Gulama, Edwina at the Lavino Relays the previous weekend.
