The West Windsor Little League 10U baseball team won the Lawrence tournament with a 7-3 victory over Robbinsville to complete an undefeated championship run. Caleb Kasof pitched like an ace in the championship game, striking out seven batters over five innings. Robert Rossi closed it out on the mound, and he also led the team with three hits and one RBI. Troy Callahan and Jack Carter each drove in two runs.
Robbinsville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of the title matchup, but West Windsor tied it in the second with two runs of its own. The squad took the lead for good in the third inning when Callahan drove in Jason Carroll.
In the fourth inning, Logan Slater hit a sacrifice fly to score Daniel Hu. The game was put out of reach in the fifth when West Windsor scored three runs, capped by Carter’s two-run single, which scored Jonah Levy and Callahan.
Mick Callahan managed the team and Luis Saldivia, Jack Demouth, and Kevin Carroll all served as coaches.

Former High School North and Hamilton College baseball player Joe Jensen has begun his professional baseball career after signing with the Southern Illinois Miners of the independent Frontier League. Jensen made his debut with the Miners in late July.
The Miners stand in second place in the East Division of the 14-team league with a 35-20 record. The team, based in Marion, Illinois, is in its ninth year of operation. The Miners have sent two players to the Major Leagues, including Tanner Roark, who currently pitches for the Washington Nationals.
Jensen’s first game with Southern Illinois was a 4-1 loss to the Gateway Grizzlies. He went 0-3 as the team’s designated hitter.
A two-time New England Small College Athletic Conference all-star, Jensen started every game in center field and led the Hamilton College Continentals with a .398 batting average, 47 hits, 29 runs scored, 24 stolen bases, and a .450 on-base percentage.
His stolen base total led the NESCAC, and he ranked among the conference leaders in batting average (third), hits (sixth), and on-base percentage (ninth). Jensen hit six doubles, three triples, and a home run while driving in 14 runs as the team’s leadoff hitter.
A three-year starter, Jensen finished as the program’s all-time leader in hits (135), runs (90), stolen bases (78), and triples (six). He helped Hamilton win 16 games this spring, tying a school record. The Continentals’ 16-14 mark gave them their first winning season since 1990.
Jensen was also a three-time All-American sprinter with Hamilton’s indoor track and field team.
#b#Perrine Makes Cut at Big ‘I’ Tourney#/b#
Bennett Perrine, a rising senior and star golfer at High School North, capped off a stellar 2015 season by participating in the Big “I” Junior Golf Championship at Praire Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The tournament, which ran from August 3 through 6, featured some of the top high school golfers in the country. Perrine shot a 79 in the first round and a 73 in the second round on the par-70 course for a two-day total of 152, five strokes ahead of the cut line for the tournament.
Perrine scored 89 on the third day and 87 in the fourth round.
