Steven Au-Yeung, a North graduate and a junior on the New York University men’s track and field team, collected All-America accolades at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. He ran with the NYU distance medley relay team that finished seventh at the NCAAs with a time of 10:09.53.
Au-Yeung’s strong showing capped an outstanding indoor season. He broke the school record as part of the DMR team and ran a personal best in the 1,000 meters. Au-Yeung was also named University Athletic Association Winter Sport All-Academic.
Plainsboro resident Steven Lee was the winner of the 3-point shooting contest in the Central Jersey Basketball League last month.
Boys’ Field Hockey. The practice schedule has been set and fees are announced for boys interested in joining theCentral Jersey boys’ field hockey run by USA Field Hockey.
All practices will be held on the turf at Princeton Day School. All but one will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays (April 3, 10, 17, and May 1, 8, 22). The practice on Sunday, April 17, will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The program is open to boys ages 10 to 18. The cost is $75. Princeton Junction resident Amani Saeed placed eighth in the 100 free (1:01.10) in the 17-19 Silver division at the New Jersey Silver/Bronze Championships at Rutgers on March 12 and 13. In the 13/14 Silver division, Princeton Junction resident Roman Horoszewski placed seventh in both the 200 IM (2:16.39) and the 100 free (54.52). In the 13/14 Bronze division, Princeton Junction resident Bill Huang finished seventh in the 200 breast (2:54.43). All swim for Peddie Aquatics Association.
In the 6 & under age group at the Mid-Atlantic Mini-Championships at Gloucester County Institute of Technology on March 19 and 20, West Windsor resident Scott Nahoum placed second in the 50 breast (57.06); third in the 50 back (52.11); fourth in the 25 breast (27.25), 25 back (22.86), and 100 IM (2:02.75); fifth in the 50 free (46.22); seventh in the 25 free (21.16); and eighth in the 25 fly (29.68). West Windsor resident Sara Atilgan finished second in the 50 breast (1:02.55); fourth in both the 50 free (43.28) and 25 breast (28.80); fifth in the 25 free (20.00); and sixth in 25 back (24.77). West Windsor resident Brielle Peerboom placed sixth in the 50 back (54.87) and seventh in the 25 back (24.96). West Windsor resident Michelle Li finished seventh in the 25 free (21.32) and eighth in the 50 free (48.46). All swim forPeddie.
West Windsor resident Jack McIntyre placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:48.52), 200 Fly (2:18.35), and 500 Free (5:22.15) in the 11-12 age group at the 2011 NJ Short Course Junior Olympics on March 18 through 20. McIntyre, who swims for Eastern Express (EEX), also placed sixth in the 200 IM (2:19.09).
