Boys’ Basketball

South defeated North 82-75 on December 14. Bryan Rivers finished with 31 points for the Pirates, which Dennis Zhou and Zavon Johnson had 16 and 17, respectively. For the Knights, Juwan Harrison scored 26 while Darrien Banks finished with 17. Brian Wang had 11.

South (3-2). A 55-51 win over Nottingham on December 18. Rivers led the Pirates with 24 points while Tommy Hussong contributed 14.

A 77-54 win over Hopewell Valley on December 21. Rivers again led South with 25 points. Johnson scored 13 while Hussong scored 10.

A 79-63 loss to Roman Catholic on December 27. Rivers, Johnson, and Zhou carried the South effort with 20, 14, and 11 points, respectively.

A 69-59 loss to Robert Vaux on December 29. Rivers and Zhou accounted for most of the Pirate offense with 21 and 17 points.

North (2-3). A 68-54 win over Hopewell Valley on December 18. Harrison made 11 baskets for 23 points while Banks scored 15.

A 59-53 loss to Allentown on December 21. Banks scored 22 points. Nigel Jordan made 6 baskets for 12 points.

A 52-38 loss to Rumson on December 27. Kyle Newman led the Knights with 11 points, while Harrison scored 9.

A 79-70 win over Fort Hamilton on December 29. Harrison led the North effort with 40 points while Banks scored 15.

Girls’ Basketball

North defeated South 44-28 on December 14. Liz Sugar led the Knights with 14 points. Melinda Altamore and Alyssen Rivers both finished with 9 for the Pirates.

South (2-3). A 35-27 win over Nottingham on December 18. Altamore led the Pirates with 9 points, while Kate McCormick, Samantha McCormick, and Karoline Sandvig scored 6 apiece.

A 58-40 loss to Hopewell Valley on December 21. Sandvig scored 9, and Alyssen Rivers followed with 8. Altamore and Alyssa Rivers both picked up 7 points.

A 59-46 loss to Delaware Valley on December 27. Sandvig and Rachel Goldfinger led South with 12 points each. Altamore scored 11.

A 59-55 win over Sayreville on December 28. Altamore scored a season-high 21 points while Goldfinger made 10 baskets for 16 points.

North (3-3). A 42-21 loss to Trenton on December 16. Lauren Schwartzman led the Knights with 10. MaryBeth Carson scored 4.

A 39-27 loss to Hopewell Valley on December 18. Sarah McNeilly scored 12 points. Schwartzman followed with 5.

A 41-33 loss to Allentown on December 21. McNeilly scored 9, while Carson had 5 points. Sugar, Kayla Foster, and Morgan Magid scored 5 apiece.

A 27-24 win over Pinelands on December 27. Magid and McNeilly each scored 7 while Sugar scored 6.

A 34-31 win over Northern Burlington on December 28. Carson and McNeilly led North with 9 each. Schwartzman scored 6.
