A 73-66 loss to Notre Dame on February 22. Mercer County Tournament finals.

A 78-59 win over Freehold Township on February 25. Rivers led with 35 points. Johnson scored 15, and Tommy Hussong scored 14. NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV Tournament.

North (6-16). A 64-62 overtime win over Hamilton West on February 18. Darrien Banks scored 22 points. Juwan Harrison scored 20.

Girls’ Basketball

North defeated South 46-37 on February 25 in the opening round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV Tournament. Lauren Schwartzman helped solidify the Knights’ win with 14 points. Kayla Foster contributed with 10 points, while Sarah McNeilly had 8.

Kate McCormick scored 7 points for the Pirates. Alyssen Rivers and Manisha Myneni each scored 6.

South (11-14). A 46-39 win over Trenton on February 14. Alyssen Rivers scored 12 points. Karoline Sandvig scored 8.

A 51-37 loss to Allentown on February 16. Alyssa Rivers scored 8 points, while Alyssen Rivers scored 6.

Boys’ Swimming

North (9-3). A 105-65 loss to Hunterdon Central on February 15. 200 Free: Greg Cino. 500 Free: Cino. NJSIAA Central Group A Sectional Final.

Boys’ Fencing

South defeated North 15-12 on February 21. For South, Stefano Lucchetti went 3-0 on sabre, while Sam Lorenz and Kevin Gao scored one each. On foil, Bryce Mayor earned two points. Keve Sandor, Lachlin Robertson, and Jonathan Snyder each scored one. Evan Hughes and Wesley Yuan each scored two points in epee, and Mark Khusidman earned one.

For the Knights, Prashant Baliga, Jeremy Wai, Eric Yu, and William Zhang all earned victories in epee. In foil, Dylan Pyne went 3-0. Wilfred Kwok earned one point. Michael Leung and Kyle Jacobson each earned two points in sabre.

The North boys’ sabre squad of Leung, Jacobson, Walter Wu, Marco Palombit, and Raymond Zhang earned a silver medal at the New Jersey State Squad Fencing Championships on February 23.

Girls’ Fencing

South defeated North 17-10 on February 21. Dana Kong went 3-0 in sabre for the Pirates. Roxana Mitrut went 2-1 and Jennifer Ling went 1-2. Foilists Kristen Kemnitzer, Jade Rowland, Melissa Mischell, and Denise Ponace went undefeated. Adrienne Cardulla earned two points in epee, while Mariya Zhdanova and Angela You each earned one.

For the Knights, Tanvee Varma, Claudia Wai, and Madison Hughes earned points in epee. Kajol Gandhi and Arthi Sundararajan each earned a point in foil. Katie Khaw earned two points in sabre, and Elysia Wang scored one.

South (7-3). A 15-12 win over Hun on February 12. Kong, Ling, and Amanda Hu each went 3-0 in sabre. Rowland went 3-0 in sabre. Melissa Mischell went 2-1, and Ponace went 1-2.

South’s foil squad of Kemnitzer, Mischell, and Rowland finished in eighth place at the New Jersey State Squad Fencing Championships on February 23.

North (9-4). A 17-10 loss to Northern Highlands on February 13. Varma went 3-0 in epee, while Wai when 2-1. Wang finished 2-1 in sabre.

The sabre squad of Wang, Khaw, Celine DeMorre, Constance Huang, and Alexa Herrera placed third at the New Jersey State Squad Fencing Championships on February 23.

Wrestling

South’s Nicholas Maher defeated North’s Joe Bryde 5-2 on February 25 to capture the District 20 title. Etai Yonah and Ben Schulman of South placed second in their weight classes, and North’s Vinny Porreca placed third.

South (6-15). A 50-16 loss to Somerville on February 13. Victories: Yonah, Ryan Moshman, Nadeem Carter.

A 54-21 loss to Pitman on February 16. Victories: Yonah, Adam Bachir, Schulman, Noah Kreutter.

North (2-19). A 72-6 loss to Bordentown on February 13.

A 63-0 loss to Burlington City on February 14.

A 64-11 loss to Seneca on February 16. Victories: Jack Schilder.

A 39-30 loss to Palmyra on February 16. Victories: Justin Harclerode, Schilder.

Winter Track

Boys. South’s Dan Riff, Jake Riff, Karn Setya, and Eddison Gulama qualified for the Meet of Champions at the Group III finals on February 16.

Girls. The North girls finished sixth at the Group IV finals on February 16. Patrycja Dziekonska won the 55-meter hurdles. Dziekonska, Simone Counts, and Rebecca Jin all earned trips to the Meet of Champions on February 23.

Two South team members, high jumper Paiger Brown and pole vaulter Susanne Kardaras, also qualified for the Meet of Champions. Overall, the Pirates placed 10th at the Group III finals on February 16.
