On Monday, April 1 Shiloh Baptist Church leaders plan to hold a ceremonial demolition of a factory located at 34-40 Bellevue Avenue in Trenton. A press conference will be held at 12 noon and the ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Vacant for more than 30 years, the demolition of the factory is the first major step in a redevelopment plan for a neighborhood “campus.” When cleared, the site will be home to a new two-story, multi-use facility, “The Rev. Dr. S. Howard Woodson, Jr. Family Life Center,” named in honor of Shiloh’s late pastor.
The family life center represents the first phase of a multi-phased plan to revive the surrounding community, ultimately contributing to a revitalization of the city as a whole.
Pastor Darrell L. Armstrong and other participants will be available for live TV, radio and print interviews immediately following the conference and demolition, beginning about 12:50 pm.
