Barbara Osburn’s fifth grade class at Millstone River School has presented a bill to the New Jersey state assembly seeking to make the Pine Barrens Tree Frog New Jersey’s official state amphibian. The proposal was prepared by fifth grade students Brian and Andrew Zhong. The twin boys hope the bill becomes a law before the end of the school year.
Lizbeth Reil, a third grade teacher at Wicoff School, and her students, were instrumental in the installation of turtle crossing signs over the Grovers Mill dam on Clarksville Road. When the students learned about the plight of the turtles getting killed by cars they wrote letters to West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh to request the signs. The signs were unveiled on Wednesday, January 18.
