West Windsor Community Farmers Market is now a year-round market as it moves indoors for the winter and spring season. After 12 successful years hosting the outdoor farmers market on Vaughn Drive, the WWCFM will host a monthly indoor farmers market on the second Saturday of the month at the Windsor Athletic Club at 99 Clarksville Road in West Windsor. Market dates are Saturdays, January 9, February 13, March 12, and April 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“The December market was wonderful,” says Chris Cirkus, the manager of the farmers market. “Folks from the community as well as members of the Windsor Athletic Club found the market to be a welcome treat in early December. Close to 1,000 shoppers came through, which was a nice boost for the local economy. Everything from grass-fed meat to produce to local honey and everything in between.”
With a large, well-lit room overlooking a picturesque wooded space, live music by high school musicians, along with chair massage by the Touch That Heals, these indoor markets look to continue the tradition of the inviting and welcoming space created by the organizers of the market.
“For January we’ve got DarlaRich Jazz, which should fill the club with a great vibe,” says Cirkus. “They’re long-time friends of the spring, summer, and fall markets.”
Many regular season farms and vendors will be featured along with favorites from 11 years of Slow Food Central New Jersey winter markets of the past, which the WWCFM ran from behind the scenes.
“The hope is to spread the word so more area residents can support farms throughout the winter, shop locally, benefit from fresh, mindfully raised and produced food as well as enjoy the sense of community that the markets bring,” says Cirkus. “We’re thrilled to be able to create a year-round experience.”
