Robinson kindergartners and first graders listen to a story with their Retell Gloves.
Thirty kindergarten and first grade families attended Robinson Elementary School’s second annual Fall into Literacy event- a night filled with pizza, games and learning.
After the kick-off dinner, students decorated their own “Retell Gloves.” Each finger on the glove corresponds with a story element. For instance, the thumb represents the main character while index fingers refer to the setting. Once the gloves were finished, students listened to a book called “Bear Can’t Wait,” and used their gloves to retell the story.
Meanwhile, parents were introduced to various tools to help their children practice spelling, comprehension and writing in a more fun, interactive way.
