While West Windsor is dealing with the Alexander Road bridge closure, Plainsboro is seeing its own road construction moving significantly forward over the past two weeks.##M:[more]##
Work is nearing completion on the improvements to the intersection at Scudders Mill and Dey roads. With some periodic road closures occurring over the last few weeks, enough of the work was completed to enable the intersections are now essentially operating under their new configurations, says Township Administrator Bob Sheehan.
New traffic signals are now up and operational at the intersection, and the repaving of the intersection is almost complete, Sheehan says. All of the curbing, sodding, and sidewalks are also completed. As of July 23, the only work left was a little paving and striping.
The $2.7 million project, 75 percent of which was funded by Middlesex County, which began late last year, included a realignment of the intersection and additional lanes. A left turn lane was added eastbound on Scudders MIll Road, and a right turn lane was added southbound on Dey Road. Sheehan says the lights will accommodate traffic backups at the intersection and hopefully “divert traffic away from Plainsboro Road,” he says.
