Plainsboro property taxpayers should expect important mail from the township in 2016.
The township is wrapping up its reassessment and nearly 5,900 taxable properties will be receiving a letter in early January containing a preliminary assessment value for 2016, according to Tax Assessor Tom Mancuso. The reassessment process began in June, and after the early January mailout there will approximately 10 days of informal hearings for property owners to provide input and any potentially missed information.
Like in past years, a notice of value will then be mailed out at the beginning of February. Property owners have the right to file an appeal by April 1.
#b#Sustainable Energy Grant#/b#. Plainsboro received a $10,000 Sustainable Jersey grant that will help fund energy efficient improvements at the Recreation and Cultural Center, as well as at the Rush Hold Environmental Education Center at Plainsboro Preserve.
Improvements include indoor and outdoor LED lighting, and a five-ton water source heat pump and faucet aerators for the Education Center.
The grant was funded by the Gardinier Environmental Fund.
#b#Christmas Tree Pickup#/b#. The township Public Works department will do curbside Christmas tree pickup each Monday in January. Remove all decorations from trees prior to recycling.
The Middlesex County Improvement Authority curbside pickups are scheduled for Mondays, December 28 and January 11.
