Judy Auer Shaw
On Thursday, February 26, Dr. Judy Auer Shaw will give a presentation based on her recently released book entitled The Raritan River — Our Landscape, Our Legacy at the D&R Greenway Land Trust’s Johnson Education Center, located at 1 Preservation Place in Princeton.
Shaw is a senior research associate with the Environmental Assessment and Communications Group at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. She also leads the Sustainable Raritan River initiative which serves as a central hub through which parties interested in the future of the Raritan River region share information, funding and projects.
The Raritan River — Our Landscape, Our Legacy gives readers a tour of the the Raritan River, which at 90 miles long is the longest river that is completely in New Jersey. It includes the state’s largest contiguous stretch of wildlife habitat and runs through one of the most populated areas in the United States.
Shaw argues that as we work to protect this historically wooded and agricultural land from further development, we need to replace our outmoded infrastructure and rethink outdated design and management practices that currently limit our progress toward a clean and beautiful environment.
