Princeton Symphony Orchestra’s education program PSO BRAVO! is set to host a panel discussion on music lessons for children.
Music Lessons: A Guide for Parents is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 12 at the Princeton Public Library.
A panel of local experts will answer questions about the appropriate time to start children on musical instrument lessons, how to select a teacher, and what to do once lessons begin.
Panelists include cello teacher Lynne Beiler, experienced mom Brigitte Gebert, piano teacher James Goldsworthy and Sarah Orfe of Music Together. PSO BRAVO! Education Programs manager Carol Burden will serve as moderator.
Panelist will offer perspectives on choosing a teacher, acquiring an instrument, hearing performances, understanding markers of progress, managing costs, encouraging practice and what children gain from the study of music.
