Princeton Pro Musica is set to continue its 35th season with a concert titled Treasures of the English Cathedral.
The concert features two settings for the requiem; All My Hope on God is Founded by Herbert Howells and John Rutter.
PPM artistic director Ryan Brandau said the requiems were written in the wake of familial loss.
“Both Rutter and Howells chose, rather than set the traditional liturgical requiem text, to assemble their own collection of texts, combining pieces of the traditional Requiem text with poignant passages from the Psalms, including Psalm 23: ‘The Lord is My Shepherd,’” Brandau said in a statement.
The program also includes Gerald Finzi’s God is Gone Up and John Tavener’s Funeral Ikos.
Princeton University Chapel organist, Eric Plutz will accompany the choir.
Soprano Melanie Russell, last heard with PPM for the 2012 Messiah, is the soloist for the Rutter requiem.
The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. March 15 at Princeton University Chapel.
