Princeton High School Choir
Princeton High School Choir is set to join Princeton Symphony Orchestra during its holiday concert for the 10th year.
PHS Choir is the featured guest at this year’s PSO Holiday POPS! concert, which includes a festive program of marches, dances and carols.
PSO has invited the PHS choir to be a part of its holiday concert every year since 2003. PHS Choir director Vincent Metallo values the opportunity for students to perform under the baton of PSO music director Rossen Milanov, side-by-side with professional musicians.
PSO will accompany the choir as it performs Handel’s Coronation Anthem No. 3: My Heart is Inditing.
The holiday program opens with J. Strauss Jr.’s Waldmeister Overture, followed by Vaughan-Williams’ Fantasia on “Greensleeves” leading up to the Handel piece.
An international theme unfolds with Strauss marches influenced by sounds of Egypt, Persia and Spain, as well as Strauss’ Éljen a Magyar, a Hungarian Polka, and his popular waltz On the Beautiful Blue Danube. The program also includes Anderson’s Sleigh Ride and A Christmas Festival.
The audience has a chance to join in during the carol sing-along led by Milanov and the PHS Choir.
Holiday POPS! is scheduled for 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for students.
