The Princeton Festival’s eighth annual piano competition yielded six winners on Sunday, June 14 in Clark Music Center located in Lawrenceville. A group of 107 young artists aged 6-25 competed in the preliminary rounds on June 6 and 7, each playing one selection from a group of three pieces for each category.
Adjudicators Mikhail Yanovitsky, concert pianist and teacher at Temple University, and J.Y. Song, faculty at Mannes College and Julliard, chose three pianists in each category to compete in the final round.
There were six categories of artists including Elementary Artists, Intermediate Artists, Junior Artists, Senior Artists, Four-hands, Open Class and the Richard Tang Yuk Award.
Winners included Constance Kaita (Open Class and Richard Tang Yuk Award), Kasey Shao (Intermediate Artists), Petrina Steimel (Elementary Artists and Four-hands, Vivian Tsai (Senior Artists) and James Yang (Junior Artists).
