Five people were arrested on weapon and theft related charges in Trenton on Thursday, Dec. 8.
According to a statement from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the arrests occurred around noon during a routine search for a person with an outstanding warrant.
While conducting a court-ordered search for a fugitive at a residential apartment building on Colonial Avenue, sheriff’s officers spotted an illegal rifle. After obtaining warrants to search the premises further, the officers also found a loaded handgun, assorted ammunition, synthetic marijuana and a stolen motor vehicle on the property, according to the police report.
While police didn’t find the person with an outstanding warrant, they took into custody David Maddox (25), Jaque Marsh (22), Marteez Jackson (22), Keasia Livingston (19) and Pacqi Lassiter (21).
The recovered weapons consisted of a Calico 22 caliber rifle and a stolen 40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun along with assorted ammunition, in addition to several hollow point bullets. Police also recoverd a 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan, previously reported stolen out of Trenton.
“High praise goes to the Sheriff’s Office’s Detective and Patrol Units for helping take some dangerous criminals and guns off of our city streets,” Sheriff Jack Kemler said. “We are pleased when we can contribute in any way possible to make our capital city safer.”
Maddox was charged with the following: defiant trespassing, unlawful possession of a weapon, and certain persons not to possess a weapon. Bail was set in the amount of $150,000 cash or bond and he was lodged at the Mercer County Corrections Center.
Marsh was charged with the following: defiant trespassing, possession of hollow point bullets, receiving stolen property, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Bail was set in the amount of $150,000 cash or bond. Marsh also had an active Mercer County, National Crime Information Center warrant. He was lodged at the Mercer County Corrections Center.
Jackson was found to have active warrants for his arrest and was lodged at the Mercer County Corrections Center. Livingston was charged with defiant trespassing and released on summons.
Lassiter was charged with defiant trespassing. He was found to have several active warrants for his arrest and was found to be in possession of less than ½ ounce of synthetic marijuana. Lassiter was lodged on his warrants at the Mercer County Correction Center.
