The trustees of the West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance have released a list of recommendations for improvements they feel should be made to the plans for Route 571.
In the group’s press release, Jerry Foster, the WWBPA’s second vice president, says the group feels strongly that “this design is not bicycle or pedestrian friendly and does not meet key township and state objectives, policies and/or guidelines.” If implemented, the WWBPA believes, “bicyclists and pedestrians will be less safe, while motorists will enjoy ‘negligible’ safety benefits. We urge reconsideration of the critical design features in the strongest possible terms, to improve safety for all users of the roadway, consistent with Township objectives and NJDOT policies and guidelines.”
In response, Councilwoman Linda Geevers has issued a press release (see letters, page 6) calling on the comments to be reviewed immediately so the concerns can be addressed as soon as possible and can be incorporated into the design.
