Ever wonder where an artist gets ideas or how the creative process works?
At “Square 1,” the Plainsboro Library Artists Group’s annual exhibition that is currently running through Wednesday, Sept. 21, viewers will find answers to some of those questions.
On display will be favorite works by local artists who are members of the group. These include paintings, drawings, prints, collages, ceramic pieces and mixed media creations.
Displayed beside each work will be a QR code that can be scanned by a mobile phone and will direct the viewer to a website with information about the artwork associated with the code.
Viewers can research each artist’s “Square 1,” or starting point, by reading the relevant QR code.
For example, they may discover a rough sketch, the materials used to create a work, a YouTube video of the artist’s process or initial concept, a poem, an artist’s statement or the location of a landscape.
A list of URLS for those without smartphones will also be available in the gallery.
A reception with the artists will take place on Monday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., in connection with the regular monthly meeting of the art group. The public is invited to attend.
Participating artists from Plainsboro and West Windsor include Liz Adams, Susan Freeman, Patrick Goldsmith, Lavinia Kumar, Vinita Mathur, Sweety Mehta, Sandhya Modi, Sheela Raj, Pratibha Raju, Murali Sappa, Donna Senopoulos, Allison Singer, Tatiana Sougakova and Mary Ann Weisser.
Also entering works are Susan Berke and Margo Condon of Cranbury; Joelle Hofbauer of Kendall Park; Nancy Scott of Lawrenceville; David Bavati, Art Lee and Adrian Nicoara of Monmouth Junction; Lonni Merrill, Annette Newmark, and Evie Sutkowski from Monroe; and Lynn Cheng Varga of Yardville.
