Person, Place, Thing host Randy Cohen is set to interview Princeton architect Michael Graves for a future broadcast of Cohen’s public radio program at Princeton Public Library.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 4 in the library’s Community Room, 65 Witherspoon St., Princeton.
For his program, Cohen asks guests to speak about a person, a place and a thing they find meaningful, rather than about themselves.
Graves is credited with broadening the role of the architect in society and raising public awareness of good design as it relates to the quality of everyday life. He taught at Princeton University for 39 years and is now the university’s Robert Schirmer Professor of Architecture, emeritus. He has received 13 honorary doctorates and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters as well as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
Graves’ many prestigious awards include the 1999 National Medal of the Arts, the 2001 Gold Medal from the American institute of Architects and others. Graves is the first architect inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame and the first recipient of the Michael Graves Lifetime Achievement Award from the AIA-NJ.
Cohen won three Emmy Awards for his writing on Late Night with David Letterman. His fourth Emmy was for his work on Michael Moore’s TV Nation. For 12 years he wrote The Ethicist, a weekly column for the New York Times Magazine. His most recent book is “Be Good: How to Navigate the Ethics of Everything.
