West Windsor Shade Tree Commission seeks entries for its Arbor Day Art Contest. Emerald Ash Borer, a new bug, has recently arrived in New Jersey and has the capability of killing ash trees. Artists are invited to tell everyone how important it is to plant new trees to replace the Ash trees that will be removed due to EAB. The contest is open to all West Windsor and Plainsboro students from kindergarten to grade 12.
Artwork must be an original drawing, painting, or photo with a tree theme. Entry form and contact information must be clipped to or taped on the back of artwork and be submitted to teacher or guidance counselor. Deadline is Wednesday, April 15.
Winning artwork will be displayed in Town Hall after Arbor Day and will be returned. Winners must attend Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 25, at 10 a.m. to collect prizes.
High School North Post Prom has a clothing drive on Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The committee is collecting lightly used clothes, shoes, boots, sneakers, cleats, small boxes of toys, stuffed animals, linens and curtains, bedding, backpacks, belts, hats, wallets, gloves, uniforms, and bicycles.

High School South is seeking nominations for the 2015 Hall of Honor. Individuals are honored in four categories including Alumni Achiever Award, Student Achiever Award, School Service Award, and Inspiration Award.

Kidsbridge seeks entries for “How to Be an Upstander.” Students design a concept of how to be an upstander (someone who recognizes when something is wrong and acts to make it right) and interpret that idea. There are essay and art poster contests for students in grades 2 to 5, a video PSA for middle school students, and an adult educator humanitarian competition.
