Seeking Hosts
The Princeton Festival seeks residents with a spare room(s) to host visiting performing artists for up to six weeks this summer from Tuesday, May 17, to Sunday, June 26. Many performers will be residence for less than the full six weeks. All that is required is a private room and use of a bathroom and a kitchen. Artists will provide their own meals and transportation. All housing hosts have access to free ticket(s) to some performances. Visit www.princetonfestival.org/volunteer-opportunities.
Good Cause
PEAC Health & Fitness at 1330 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing, will collect used bikes to benefit the Trenton Boys and Girls Club Bike Exchange on Saturday May 14, from 8 a.m. to noon. The Trenton Bike Exchange, located in Ewing, is a nonprofit organization that collects and sells, at a low cost, quality bikes to families in Mercer County.
Donated bikes of any size and condition are welcome, and all bikes are reconditioned by Bike Exchange volunteers before being sold. Support Groups
Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County offers two new support groups. Its Jewish Bereavement Group is for any Jewish adult who has lost a loved one within the past 18 months. Beverly Rubman facilitates. The group meets weekly on Wednesdays, June 1 through July 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at 707 Alexander Road, Suite 102, West Windsor. The cost is $50.
The Caregiver Support Group is a non-sectarian for those under age 75 who are helping spouses with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, early onset dementia, or other chronic illnesses. Beverly Rubman facilitates. The group meets every other Tuesday, May 17 through July 26, from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. in the adult library the Jewish Center, 435 Nassau Street, Princeton. Audition
The Mighty Oak Players holds auditions for Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Auditions!” on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 17 and 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Monroe Township High School Performing Arts Center, 200 Schoolhouse Road, Monroe. Callbacks will be Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. Show dates are July 29 to 31 and August 5 to 7.
Performers of all ethnicities, ages 16 and up, are sought for the roles of Frederic, tenor; Mabel, soprano; Pirate King, bari-tenor; Major General, baritone; Ruth, mezzo soprano; and featured roles/ensemble. Villagers Theater holds auditions for “Bring It On The Musical” on Sunday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 18, from 6:30 to 10 p.m., at 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset. The ensemble cast of actors, singers, dancers, and cheerleaders will comprise teenagers ages 13 to 19. Prepare 16 bars of a contemporary, up-tempo pop song. An accompanist will be provided.
