Jewish Family & Children’s Service offers bereavement support for Jewish adults experiencing the loss of a loved one within the past 18 months. Congregation Beth Chaim offers Introduction to Judaism, an 18-week course, focusing on the holidays, history, life cycle, literature, beliefs, and practices, beginning Tuesday, October 13. For people who want to learn about your heritage but never had the time, are thinking of coming back to Judaism after being away from it, are thinking of converting to Judaism but need a way to get started, or if someone in your family is Jewish and you want to understand their religion to support them better.

Mercer Community College offers a wide array of certificate programs in business and technology designed to enhance and reboot careers. New Jersey residents who are unemployed or under employed for six months or more may be eligible for a New Jersey Ready to Work grant to cover their education costs. Programs include clinical development and regulatory affairs and project management professional prep and review. Call for Volunteers

CONTACT will offer two 40 hour training courses for prospective hotline volunteers beginning Tuesday, September 15; 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 7 to 10 p.m. An orientation session will be held at the beginning of both events at the Pennington United Methodist Church, 60 South Main Street, Pennington. The classes teach compassionate listening skills, telephone crisis intervention, suicide prevention, addiction awareness, and more. Call for Art

Trenton Museum Society invites visual artists over 18 to submit fine art prints for “Impressions: The Art of the Print,” a juried exhibit opening November 14. Deadline is Saturday, September 26. $20 covers up to three digital images submitted to exhibits@ellarslie.­org. Submissions must be original works on paper, created within the last three years. Original work in all printmaking media including monoprints and monotypes are eligible. No photographs or digital media. Work must be available for the duration of the exhibit and be for sale.

D&R Greenway Land Trust seeks artists for “Earth/Fire,” a juried art exhibit that will feature artistic interpretations of earth and fire to recognize such essential elements to nature and to our lives. Vote by Mail

Vote-by-Mail applications are now available for the November 3 election and may be requested by mail and will be accepted until Tuesday, October 27. Any registered voter in New Jersey can vote by mail for any reason. This gives people a larger window for voting in elections, and allows them to avoid relying on a single day to cast their votes. A permanent list is an option. Applications are available on the website in both English and Spanish. Ballots are also available in Indian, Chinese, and Korean. For Autistic Children

VSA New Jersey announces fall program offerings for children with autism ages 3 to 21 and their family members. Through participation in weekly workshops in the visual and performing arts, young people will enhance their understanding and appreciation of the arts while developing skills essential for academic and personal growth. The family arts experience offers unique opportunities to engage children, siblings, and parents in activities that will support communication and interaction in the workshop setting and at home.

Workshops are offered on Saturdays, October 3 to December 5, in New Brunswick, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each 10-week workshop meets for one hour per week. There is a $50 registration fee for families who receive class placement in this program. Fee waivers are available upon request. Are You Ready for Business?

Mercer County Office of Economic Development and Sustainability presents an intensive six-week workshop for start-up businesses (those in the idea/planning phase or in operation less than a year). Entrepreneurship 101 will run on Tuesday evenings, from September 29 to November 10, at the Mercer County Connection, Route 33 at Paxson Avenue in the Acme Shopping Center, Hamilton.

Participants will be guided through a real-world assessment of their business idea and market feasibility as well as their own ability to handle the demands of business ownership.
