Arts Education
West Windsor Arts Council seeks an arts education associate to administer, lead, and organize a variety of activities at its arts center and other community locations. A part-time position with most work hours taking place on evenings and weekends and during camps coinciding with school breaks, the number of hours will vary week to week, with about 10 hours average per week.
Experience and/or degree in arts education, teaching, or arts administration is required. The candidate should have interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy working with children, and have a willingness to learn and grow. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, iMovie, and Photoshop are highly desirable.
The associate will organize and administer the annual Autumn Arts Afternoon event, scheduled to take place on October 6, at Nassau Park Pavilion; organize and staff activities at the West Windsor Community Farmers Market, and other events around the community. He or she will manage staffing and activities for children’s birthday parties and open studio events, and serve as an assistant coordinator for camps. There are additional needs in the office and in arts center activities with opportunities for growth for the right candidate.

ScienceSeeds offers two workshops for ages 6 to 11. Both take place at West Windsor Arts Center, 952 Alexander Road, West Windsor, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $85. “Engineering Fun” will be held on Tuesday, September 4. Design and build crash test cars, helicopters, and zip line racers while learning about stored energy, trajectory, and friction. “Hydraulic Butterfly” will be held Wednesday, September 5. Volunteer
Womanspace seeks volunteers to join its Domestic Violence Victim Response Team (DVVRT) and Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS) Advocate Team. Team members respond to local police stations or hospitals and meet with victims-providing them with support, information, and referrals. Interested persons must be 18 years of age or older, as well as a resident of or employee in the Mercer County area with a valid driver’s license, available transportation, and the ability to attend trainings and meetings. Volunteers may not have either a criminal history or prior history as a defendant in a domestic violence or sexual assault-related matter.
Volunteers will receive more than 80 hours of extensive, specialized training on topics including the law, sensitivity to the needs of victims and their children, and how to provide appropriate responses at a very critical time.
Interested persons must submit to a background investigation, including fingerprinting. Bilingual individuals (especially those fluent in Spanish, Polish, and American Sign Language) are encouraged to apply. Volunteers are also required to be fluent in English. Trained volunteers must be on call (available to respond to call-outs at police departments or hospitals) two to four shifts per month.

For teens
Young Audiences New Jersey is accepting applications for the Emerging Artists Creativity Hub, a 10-week arts intensive program for teenagers, ages 13 to 17, who exhibit a dedicated interest and talent in the arts. In partnership with College of New Jersey, workshops will be held on Saturdays in the Art and Interactive Multimedia Building on the college’s Ewing campus.
The program offers visual and performing artists from diverse economic and social backgrounds an arts education experience. Young artists study and work with multiple art forms and professional teaching artists from Young Audiences’ roster.
Students will create individual artworks and collaborate on group projects, visit cultural institutions like the American Museum of Natural History and Grounds for Sculpture. The program culminates in an Emerging Artists Showcase that is free and open to the public. Space is limited and scholarships are available.

Arts for Autism
VSA New Jersey offers parent and child workshops in the arts for children with autism on Saturdays, September 29 to December 1, in New Brunswick from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each 10-week workshop meets for one hour per week.
Through participation in weekly workshops in the visual and performing arts, young people will enhance their understanding and appreciation of the arts while developing skills essential for academic and personal growth. The family arts experience offers opportunities to engage in activities that will support communication and interaction.

Howell Farm is accepting applications for parent/child enrollment in its fall hatchery program which begins in September. The program includes feeding farm animals, collecting eggs, storytelling, and taking a hayride ride for children ages 3 to 5. One parent must work at the farm as a volunteer in exchange for one child’s participation in the program. No experience is necessary.
The program runs one morning per week for 12 weeks, on either Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays, September 11, 12, 13, or 14, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Parents may enroll by attending an organizational meeting on either Wednesday, August 22 or 29, at 1 p.m. Meetings are intended for parents only. The theater is seeking innovative graphic design interns to design and produce marketing materials.
