NOW Theater Acting Company seeks professional actors, Equity and non-Equity for play readings and upcoming productions in the Mercer County area. DanceVision presents “Princeton Dance for Parkinson,” a series of workshops where participants explore elements of modern dance, ballet, social dance, and repertory in an environment that features live musical accompaniment. Classes are appropriate for anyone with Parkinson’s Disease, no matter how advanced, and no prior dance experience is necessary. Church and Dwight donated a grant for a year of free workshops to persons afflicted with Parkinson’s Disease, their caregivers, friends, and family members.

Princeton Pro Musica is scheduling auditions for experienced singers for its 34th season of performing choral masterworks. Singers should bring one piece to sing. Sight reading will be part of the audition. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 in Princeton, with periodic Saturday sectional rehearsals. Both volunteer and professional positions are open. Voices seeks singers from the Princeton and Bucks County areas. Tenor and basses are especially needed, but openings are available in all voice parts. Basic music reading skills, vocal talent, and a passion for singing are required. Playhouse 22 has open auditions for “Crazy for You” on Monday and Tuesday, August 27 and 28, at 7 p.m. The show dates are weekends, November 2 to 18. Auditions will be held at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center, 721 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Prepare 16 to 32 bars of a classical musical theater piece for auditions (a song that suits the character that you are auditioning for). You will be asked to learn a short dance combination. Magic Lantern Productions has auditions for the stage reading of “The Side Order,” a new romantic comedy with an adult theme, on Saturday, August 25, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Cabaret Room at the Ramada, 6426 Lower York Road, New Hope, PA. Auditions will be cold readings from the script. Bring a one minute monologue. Performances will be Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13, at the J&W Gallery in New Hope. Children’s Auditions

Paper Mill Playhouse will have non-union, children’s auditions for “The Sound of Music” on Saturday, September 15. Rehearsals Monday, October 29, in New York City. The show run from Friday, November 23, through December 30.

The theater seeks girls who look ages 6 to 16 and boys who look ages 12 to 16. Children and their guardian should join the line in front of the theater and enter through the front doors of the theater only. Audition sign up will take place in the theater’s lobby on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, September 15. Sign up for ages 6 to 11 begins at 9 a.m. and sign up for ages 12 to 16 begins at noon. Every child should have a picture and resume stapled together.

Bring sheet music in the appropriate key and style and be prepared to sing 16 bars only. An accompanist will be provided. (No recorded music). Children should wear appropriate footwear as they may be asked to dance. Callbacks will be held on the same day. Depending on the number of children auditioning, there is no guarantee everyone will be seen.

“The last time Paper Mill Playhouse held an open-call audition for children in `The Sound of Music,’ we discovered a talented young man by the name of Nick Jonas,” says Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill Playhouse’s producing artistic director. “Nick went on to become a major star both in the recording industry and on Broadway. Could the next Nick Jonas be at these auditions? Arts Council of Princeton invites art in painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture for “Share What You Love,” the annual members show. Open to current and new members. A 30 percent commission will be taken if works are sold. Whole Earth Center offers “Healthy Living Discussion Group,” a six-session program led by co-hosts Palmer Uhl and V. Bea Snowden. Group A meets on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. beginning September 12. Group B meets alternate Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. beginning September 13. Group C meets alternate Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. beginning September 20.

Run to Combat Riverblindness

United Front Against Riverblindness holds UFAR 5k to Combat Riverblindness on Saturday, October 6, at 10 a.m. at Princeton Theological Seminary, 64 Mercer Street, Princeton. Register for $20 at www.riverblindness.org. All participants will get a T-shirt, and prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers.

The African-inspired, Lawrenceville-based nonprofit charitable organization that aims — in partnership with other organizations — to eradicate onchocerciasis, a major public health problem in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The medicine for riverblindness is provided free by Merck & Co., but distributing it to remote villages costs 58 cents per person per year for 10 years. One-third of the 60 million people in the DRC are at risk for getting riverblindness, which starts with a rash and leads to sight loss, forcing children to leave school to care for parents. For Kids

Paper Mill Playhouse and VSA-NJ offer its creative drama class for students ages 8 to 12 with developmental disabilities. The class meets Fridays from September 7 through October 26, from 5 to 6 p.m. The six-week program costs $224 per student and will include theater improvisation, story telling, music, movement, and visual art. The series will creatively address and include diverse learning styles and modes of communication. The drama class for children with disabilities is also open to their non-disabled siblings and parents or other caregivers. Bank of Princeton has a “Bank Wisely” scavenger hunt in Lambertville through Saturday, September 15. Pictures of owls have been placed in secret locations throughout the town.
