In Town
Plainsboro Township offers several events in October for individuals with special needs. There is a Halloween dance for teens and young adults on Saturday, October 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Bumper bowling is offered to families on Sunday, October 16, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The township also offers a fall foliage canoe trip on October 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. and the annual fall festival on October 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the municipal complex.
Another offering is Club de Espanol for children in kindergarten to third grade. The Spanish club is an enrichment program will reinforce the lessons taught in the WW-P school system. Rutgers hosts “Anderson Cooper 360 Town Hall,” a special on bullying, on CNN, on Sunday, October 9, at 8 p.m. The event at Rutgers coincides with the anniversary of Tyler Clementi’s suicide that brought the issue of cyber-bullying to international attention.
Rain Garden
Isles and Rutgers Cooperative Extension Water Resources program offer a two-day training workshop, Wednesday and Thursday, October 19 and 20, in Trenton.to install and maintain a rain garden. The workshop includes classroom and field time and a rain garden installation in Trenton . The plants are native to the region and help retain contaminants that could harm nearby waterways. $25 includes the program, the manual, refreshments and lunch for the first day.
